What Is Messianic Judaism?

   MESSIANIC JUDAISM
WHAT IS MESSIANIC JUDAISM ?:

Messianic Judaism is a biblically-based movement of Jewish and non-Jewish people who worship together and share two common beliefs:
1)  That Yeshua (Jesus) is the Messiah; and
2) That Israel is the chosen, covenant nation of God forever

WHAT ARE MESSIANIC JEWS ?:

Messianic Jews are simply people who are Jewish by birth, and who believe in Yeshua (Jesus) as the Messiah.

It is a widely believed that Jews do not, and never did believe in Yeshua, however, this is a false notion.  Originally, in the first century, the first people to believe and follow Yeshua were all Jews living in Israel.   As the news of Messiah's coming spread throughout the Roman Empire, they were soon joined by many non-Jews, living in the cities of the Roman Empire.  They worshipped together, Jew and Gentile as one people.  This was before there was any such thing as christianity or "churches".  The central headquarters of the body of believers was not Rome but Jerusalem.  Later, in the 4th century, a Roman Emperor organized and founded the world church that dominated Europe, and came to be known as christianity.   That "church" had nothing to do with the original, biblical faith.  Jewish believers in Yeshua, who practiced biblical rites, were not accepted, and soon disappeared through persecution by Rome.

Today, Jewish people everywhere are returning to faith in Messiah Yeshua, as it was in the first century.   Many gentile believers are leaving the traditional churches and joining with Messianic Jews to restore the original faith of the New Testament.  Our mutual faith in Messiah Yeshua makes Jew and Gentile one.  Our love for Israel connects us in the same mission, to bring about the salvation of Israel.  Just as in the first century, when many non-Jews walked together in faith with messianic Jews throughout the Roman Empire, today, we see the rebirth of this same kind of congregation in messianic synagogues.

WHAT IS A MESSIANIC SYNAGOGUE ?:

Temple New Jerusalem (TNJ)  is a messianic synagogue.   A messianic synagogue is a congregation of Jews and Gentiles who believe that Yeshua (Jesus) is the promised Messiah and Savior of the world.

Today, you can find messianic synagogues in practically every major city of the world where Jews can be found.   Before about 1967, during about 1900 years, there basically were no congregations where Jews could live out their faith in Jesus.  During those years, if a Jew became a believer he had to join up with a local church, quitting his own Jewish culture and heritage.   A messianic synagogue, like TNJ, provides a home for Jewish people to follow Yeshua, without having to give up Jewish culture.  A messianic synagogue is also a home for gentile believers who see their place with Israel in these last days, and are at home with the lifestyle and culture of the Jewish people.

A messianic synagogue is one which takes to heart the command:  "Pray for the peace of Jerusalem, He will prosper those who love her" (Ps. 122:6).

Whether you are Jewish or non-Jewish, if you love Yeshua and Israel, you will feel welcome at TNJ.  We invite you to come worship with us.
